The planet Saturn is associated with gloom and in the old texts an adverse condition created by Saturn was often diagnosed as melancholia – a precursor to what can be commonly referred to as depression in contemporary times.
John Mayer, the singer and songwriter, has also written a song about gravity – another Saturnian force. Saturn governs “the rules of the road” and is what holds our feet to the fire as far as commitments, duties and obligations are concerned.
