Saturday’s New Moon in Virgo

“What we repeatedly think shapes our world. Out of compassion, substitute healthy thoughts for unhealthy ones.” Jack Kornfield

“Only with winter- patience can we bring the deep-desired, long awaited spring.” Anne Morrow Lindburgh

I had a good friend here who ran a school of natural cooking and philosophy and he created a special recipe for a  morning soup her called “Hang-ger.”  Hang-ger was a cure for hunger and anger – the kind of anger or the kind of irritability you can get from being too hungry.

We all may be in need of some hanger this weekend with the New Moon in Virgo which is at 4:17 AM on Saturday EDT. At this time the Sun and Moon at 4 degrees of  Virgo  will be squaring Mars at 4  degrees of Gemini. This can be a nervy combination and an impatient, critical and short tempered  one.

Best to avoid overthinking.

It’s a good time to think or plan about new initiatives but to watch for impulsiveness. Mars can give the  courage and the desire for action.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is, “A woman becomes aware of nature spirits and normally unseen spiritual energies.”

Pluto, Mercury and Venus and This Week’s Astrology

“Life is the only way
to get covered in leaves,
Catch your breath on sand,
rise on wings.

To be a dog
or stroke its warm fur;
to tell pain
from everything  its not,

to squeeze within events,
dawdle in views,
to seek the least of all possible mistakes,

An extraordinary chance
To remember for a moment
a conversation held
with the lamp switched off

and if only once
to stumble on a stone,
end up soaked in one downpour or another.

mislay your keys in grass
and follow a spark on the wind with your eyes,

and to keep on not knowing
something important.” Wislawa Szymborska

The planet of love and abundance, Venus shines brightly this week in astrology with several significant alignments. But first to Mercury and Pluto.

Mercury in Virgo is  now forming a positive  alignment with Pluto – the Lord of the Underworld. Mercury was the only god who could travel between the  worlds – as often he did – in disguise , to conduct business or solve disputes. Mercury will be trining Pluto through most of this week.

Mercury in Virgo speaks of issues having to do with health and work projects and how your work life supports your overall health and well being. This week provides good timing to consider those aspects of life. It’s also a time when significant information may emerge – especially as a result of thinking of things through on a deeper level.

The Sun moves out of Leo and into Virgo on Monday – a good time for getting organized for the upcoming season. This sign, symbolized by the process of separating the wheat from the chaff, is a sign known for its discernment. It’s a good time for detail work. It’s good to watch for a tendency towards perfectionism or being overly critical of self or others. The Sun will leave this sign on October 23, the time of the Fall Equinox.

This week could have its surprises in store as Uranus, the planet of the unexpected, stations retrograde on Wednesday at 18 degrees of Taurus. Uranus is the Great Liberator and can stir things up where change needs to be activated. It is a good time to consider or reconsider attitudes and belief systems that have outlived their usefulness. Uranus is sometimes referred to as the “Great Awakener” – an important component in the fast moving  times in which we are living.

The Uranus station can bring in a time of innovation in ideas now. The key to that is openness to new ways of thinking.

Venus in Leo is forming a harmonious alignment with Chiron, the asteroid of the Wounded Healer. Venus will also be squaring the Lunar Nodes and  Uranus this week. These alignments provide a good time to consider aspirations in the areas of love, abundance and finances. Obstacles may become more apparent but also more courage and clarity about how  to overcome them.

Best to provide extra downtime because this can be a nervy week.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”Brilliant sunshine just after a storm.”
