December a Month for Reflection

“You, darkness, that I come from
I love you more than all the fires
that fence in the world,
for the fire makes a circle of light for everyone
and then no one outside learns of you.
But the darkness pulls in everything-
shapes and fires, animals and myself,
how easily it gathers them!
powers and people-
and it is possible a great presence is moving near me.
I have faith in nights.” Rilke

“We can know the dark, and dream it into a new image.” Starhawk

It’s wise this month to leave a good amount of time for reflection – in terms of where you have been and where you want to be going. The early part of the month is best for organization and planning.

Neptune, Jupiter and Mercury all make planetary stations this month- Neptune on December 6, Mercury on the 16th and Jupiter on the 31st. Neptune and Jupiter will turn direct and  Mercury will station retrograde. This kind of planetary activity provides good timing to rethink and revision aspirations that have been germinating.

Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, will enter the sign of Scorpio on December 4 which can bring depth and clarity to our desires.

The Winter Solstice, when the Sun enters Capricorn,  is  December 21.

Based on numerology, the Tarot Card for the month is The High Priestess. She is a Wise Woman  and represents the time of the first quarter Moon – full of energy and potential – in which ideas gestate.  Often she is  holding  scriptures or sacred book of some kind and is seated between two pillars or trees, which symbolize the need to balance the Masculine and Feminine. This is a card of inner activity – not outer action.

This card speaks of intuition, esoteric knowledge, wisdom and the revelation of secrets. It indicates a good time to seek guidance from higher sources or  to turn within  to seek answers.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”Deep within the depths of the earth, new elements are being formed.”
