Mercury Retrograde Ends as Venus Meets Up with Jupiter

“Gemini is called the butterfly of the zodiac for she flits from one situation to another in order to gain growth through many varied experiences.” Isabel Hickey

This week has some interesting aspects. Mercury will station direct on Monday at 4 degrees of Leo. It’s wise at this time and for the next couple of days to look for guidance that may  surface – particularly about how you express yourself in the world and your use of power/empowerment.

Saturn and Uranus are in a sextile formation  with Saturn at 1 degree of Aries and Uranus at 1 degree of Gemini. Wherever Saturn is transiting in your chart, there can be a heaviness and seriousness. The answer to this is just to push on through – to keep working. Progress is made in this way.

But when Uranus adds its magic to this placement, it indicates there is an opportunity at hand to experience a broadening of perspective which can add fresh ideas and orientations to current thinking. It’s wise to integrate some levity into areas which may seem burdensome in your life.

Venus is in Cancer now and moving up to a conjunction with Jupiter. This is a pleasure loving duo and can bring good luck. It provides a good time for self nurture and  for nurturing others.

Mars in LIbra continues to oppose the Neptune/Saturn conjunction. Wise to watch for being overly hard on yourself. Entertain new ways of doing things.

A Week for Perseverance, Breakthoughs and Revelations

“Be patient with everyone, but above all with yourself. All profitable correction comes from a calm, peaceful mind.” Buddha

This morning I woke up with an ambitious agenda for the day but then factored in Mercury’s ongoing retrograde and that Mars is now in an out-of-sign opposition to the Saturn/ Neptune conjunction. This combination of planetary energies was a reminder to slow down, to be patient and to expect obstacles and delays.

The morning did proceed with obstacles and changes of plans. And then it was back to the drawing board about scheduling.

This week may have this kind of energy about it as Mars prepares to enter Libra on Wednesday  and perfect the opposition to the Saturn/Neptune conjunction at 1 degree of Aries.

Mars governs power and action.  There can be more motivation and desire to get things done when Mars opposes Saturn, but Neptune can have a weakening or distracting influence and delays and obstacles can present themselves.

Later in the week, Mars will be entering a harmonious trine with Uranus and Pluto. This is a highly energetic alignment and can be associated with breakthroughs and revelations. Best to raise awareness and be open to new ways of seeing and doing things.

Mercury is slowing down to station direct, ending the retrograde period on Monday the 11th. For a few days before the station and a few days after, it is wise to heighten awareness for guidance that surfaces that can represent a culmination of information.

Saturday the Moon waxes Full at 3:55 PM EDT at 17 degrees of Aquarius. More on this later.

Reinvention, the Soul’s Mission and the New Moon

“Pluto works in three phases. Phase one is disruption of the outer world which caralyzes descent into the Underworld. Phase two is not-knowing, the state that Zen students sit to attain.  Phase three is the surge of authenticity that occurs as the soul rededicates itself to its remembered mission.” Caroline W. Casey.

The New Moon this month is Thursday  7/24 at 3:11 PM. At this time the Sun and the Moon  will be together at 2 degrees of Leo. Every New Moon gives a good opportunity to start or start again.

There are very good aspects for renewal – as the Moon and Sun make very positive aspects to Neptune, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto – opening the door to inspiration, imagination, pragmatics and the courage to move forward.

But then there’s Pluto casting doubt.

This is a great time for creativity, playfulness and reinvention along the path of personal evolution.

Fun, Socializing, Creativity and the Sun in Leo

“Wonder and awe don’t simply feel good – they’re also a neurological recipe for wellbeing and longevity.” Simona Ondrejkova

Venus in Gemini  will square the Lunar nodes in Pisces and Virgo Monday. In combination with the Mars/South Node conjunction, this indicates a choice point about love and relationships. It indicates a time when it’s beneficial to take new steps away from old or karmic relationship patterns in order to bring more harmony into your life and your relationships with others. It’s an important time for personal evolution and growth.

The Sun moves into Leo on Tuesday at 9:29 am EDT. The Sun rules this fiery sign. It ushers in a good time for socializing, fun and creativity.

The Sun in Leo sextiles Uranus – the planet of  of the future and of the unexpected. Best to watch for significant breakthroughs this week that can lead in new directions. Change is in the air!

The New Moon in Leo is Thursday at two degrees of Leo.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”A cafeteria with an abundance of choices.”

Mercury Stations Retrograde on Friday

“The more faithfully you listen to the voice within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside.” Dag Hammarskjold

Mercury the fleet footed god of communication and commerce is slowing down to station retrograde on July 18 at 15 degrees of the fiery sign of Leo. Mercury then  will backtrack to 4 degrees of Leo on August 11.

Retrograde periods provide a good time to review, reconsider and reflect. This retrograde in Leo provides a good time for  revisiting our self esteem, self confidence and self expression.

Mercury will station  while making a sextile to Venus in Gemini – indicating  the mind and heart functioning in harmony. A good time for heartfelt communications.

It’s wise all week with aspects to Chiron and Mercury slowing to to keep communications clear – to speak and listen with heightened awareness.

Maps, Destiny, and the Way Forward

“The old maps are outdated, we require new navigational aids. And the inescapable fact is that you are your own cartographer now.” Ralph Blum

Today and for the next few days, there is some push/pull energy between the hold of the past and the way forward. But there also is a harmonious grand trine with the Sun, Juno and the North Node. The Sun rules the self, Juno, commitments and the North Node rules life path and destiny.

Watch the way things  unfold today and for the next couple of days. Events can conspire to show the way forward.

Thursday’s Full Moon & Mercury Retrograde

“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you’re lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away. Stephen Hawking, a Capricorn

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” J.R.R. Tolkien, a Capricorn.

The Full Moon this week  at 18 degrees of Capricorn is on Thursday July 10. The  earthy sign of Capricorn makes this a good time for for planning, commitment and long term vision.

When it comes to making decisions, it’s best to keep them pragmatic.

Coming up –  Mercury will station retrograde on July 18 at 15 degrees of Leo. -The retrograde period will last through August 11. More on this later.

New Ways of Thinking and Communicating

“Dawn points, and another day
Prepares for heat and silence. Out at sea the dawn wind
Wrinkles and slides. I am here
Or there, or elsewhere, in my beginning.”

Uranus entered the sign of Gemini today – one of the big astrological events of the year and a harbinger of changes to come.

This is the first time Uranus has transited this sign since 1942. It ushers in a time (a seven year cycle)   when it bodes well to be open to new ways of thinking,  new ways of communicating and a time when outdated thinking may go out the door.  Uranus is the planet of awakening and there can be very significant breakthroughs under this influence.

Uranus will station retrograde in September and will be back in Gemini for good in 2026.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is.”A small girl bends over a sparkling pond trying to catch a fish.”

Venus Enters Gemini – Love and Abundance

“Our lives are often touched by chance, are they not? I call it magic, the crossing of our paths with the paths of others. How quickly, how completely, these magic meetings can turn us in directions we never dreamed.” Dee Brown

Today Venus enters Gemini – the sparkling sign of duality. This ushers in a time (through July 30) that bodes well for being open to new ideas about love and relationships, abundance and happiness in general. If you feel attracted to or interested in a new idea, it bodes well to follow up on it. Not necessarily settle on it, yet, but follow up on it.

It is a good time to be open and flexible in your thinking.

Isabel Hickey wrote about this sign,”Gemini is called the butterfly of the zodiac for she flits from one situation to another in order to gain growth through many varied experiences.”

A Busy Week in the Starry Heavens

“Your decision to keep on a path or leave it must be free of fear and ambition. Ask yourself and yourself alone one question: does your path have a heart?” Carlos Casteneda

“Turn aside from highways and walk on footpaths.” Pythagoras

Yesterday some friends installed a new washing machine and dryer at my house.  This was kind of a lucky event  because I was never sure how long my old washer would last. The new one, as well as the dryer, were a gift from a friend who no longer needed them.

This morning when I went to do the laundry , I was so surprised to find a very favorite necklace that I had lost some ten years ago. I had looked and looked for it over time. It must have fallen behind the dryer where I couldn’t see it .

The stone, which I had placed on a linen strand, was a Pi stone from Peru and been given to me as part of a ritual when I was studying Peruvian shamanism.

As I lifted it up from its dusty surroundings, I remembered that this week, with Jupiter conjunct the Sun, could be a lucky time.

The week starts off with the  Jupiter/Neptune square still widely in effect. This  can cloud linear thinking but it is good for imagination, inspiration and optimism.

The New Moon is on Wednesday at 4 degrees of Cancer. Jupiter will be conjunct the New Moon and Sun at this time.  This is a New Moon about home and family.

Jupiter in Cancer for the next year or so provides a good time for enjoying family and home life. It is also a good time to reconnect with family members or friends you may have lost contact with over time.

Later in the week, Mercury will sextile Uranus , Venus will sextile the North Node and the Sun will sextile Mars. It’s wise to raise awareness about any information that may surface related to  your personal evolutionary path. It is  also a time when there can be innovative and brilliant ideas. Be open to  taking a new approach .

Mercury will trine Saturn and Neptune indicating a good time for getting creative ideas into form.

Mercury all week is moving up to an opposition to Pluto – do watch for overthinking and obsession.

One of the Sabian symbols for this week is,”A  woman on a magic carpet observes vast vistas below.”
