Venus, Jupiter and Neptune

“Miracles occur all the time. Something is wrong when they don’t happen.” Carolyn Myss

“Magicians have always been masters of the space between-times like sunrise and sunset, when the boundaries between the worlds are not firm, when gods can walk the earth and humans can touch the sky.” J.E. Cirlot

We are moving into a time when it is possible to tap into increased optimism with Venus- now in Sagittarius – moving up to a conjunction with Jupiter the planet of expansion.  It is a time which bodes well for learning more about something you love. It is a time for good cheer, increased pleasure and happiness. It bodes well for financial growth.  This aspect will be with us though late in the month.

The Jupiter/ Neptune alignment will be in effect throughout the year – making its exact aspect three times. This planetary duo,in effect now,  reminds me of the Tarot Card, the Ten of Pentacles in the Waite  deck. The card shows a castle behind a tall gate. The gate is open and inside you can see two royal  figures talking with each other and a small child.  At the gate stands a Magus – a magician – with a long grey beard wearing a cloak embroidered with occult symbols. Two of the castle dogs have come to greet him.

The symbolism of the card is about being able to see magic and mystery of life – represented by the Magus. The children and the dogs see the Magus but the adults do not. It is a reminder that the qualities of innocence, trust and openness can lead to a more inspired vision.

The influence of the Neptune/Jupiter  influence is likely to come in waves. It is wise to keep moderation in mind in order to avoid disillusionment.

One of the Sabian symbols for the Jupiter/Neptune square is,”In a quiet moment, a creative individual experiences the flow of inspiration.”

Saturday’s Solar Eclipse in Capricorn

“New ways of thinking about familiar things can release new energies and make all sorts of things possible.” Charles Handy

“Everything that is beautiful is orderly and there can be no order unless things are in their right relation to each other. Of this right relation throughout the world beauty is born.” Robert Henri

There is a partial Solar Eclipse Saturday at 8:28 PM EST at 15 degrees of Capricorn. This eclipse ushers in a new time. It bodes well under the influences to prioritize organization. Get rid of clutter. Clear your space. Clear your mind. Let go of old ideas which no longer serve you. Be open to new ideas and ways of doing things.

It will be beneficial throughout the month to work on a project which requires concentration. It is a good time to start a business or new project.

What is present at this eclipse and a strong player through 2020 is the Pluto Saturn conjunction. At the time of the eclipse Pluto is conjunct the South Node indicating that it is a threshold time to look at where you are putting your energy. If there are place in your life where you feel you are pouring energy into a black hole, it bodes well to think about whether it’s worth bringing with you into the future. This includes karmic or inherited ways of thinking about things that no longer serve you.

It’s a bit like pruning a tree and cutting off the dead branches to give more energy to the healthy parts of the tree.

There is a kite formation at this time which indicates that it’s wise to remember the many skills and resources you can draw on when proceeding forward. There is a lot of help from the universe if you are willing to be patient, disciplined and persevering.

One of the Sabian symbols for this eclipse is,”An ancient bas-relief carved in granite remains a witness to a long forgotten culture.”

This Week’s Astrology

“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. ” Goethe

Mars the fiery red planet moves into his home sign of Aries tomorrow ushering in an energized time for new beginnings.  Mars, the god of action and desire is also aligning favorably with  Jupiter. This lends more energy, hope and optimism to projects started or restarted this week.

The Sun is moving up to a conjunction to Saturn indicating that it bodes well to have solid and pragmatic plans in place for any new endeavors launched now  and to commit to patience and perseverance over the long term.

There is a partial solar eclipse on Saturday January 5 at 15 degrees of Capricorn.  Solar eclipses are associated with the opening of a new chapter – do be open to new beginnings in the area of your chart that is lit up by this eclipse.

There is plenty of restless energy around this week with Uranus slowing down to station direct on January 6. It’s wise to provide for extra downtime to process events and information. Mercury will be moving up to a beneficial trine to Uranus at that time – be on the lookout for innovative ideas and solutions which can move situations in a more positive direction.

The Sabian symbol for the Uranus station is,”The music of the spheres.”

Mars Moves on and The Right Use of Power

“I am the beauty running through the world; the ideal held up to make it ascend. I am the essential Feminine.” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

“The problem comes when we do not recognize the power within ourselves as well as within others and when we do not recognize our connection to all beings within the circle of life.” Carol P. Christ

This weekend Mars and Chiron make their fifth and final conjunction in the sign of Pisces since 2010. It is a culmination of a process and it bodes well to consider how you direct and implement your power now and how that has  evolved over time.

Chiron is  associated – by sign and house placement in anyone’s natal chart – with a wounding and healing journey that offers the potential  for personal growth and evolution. It is correlated with life path and often involves the challenge of facing and evolving  ancestral  issues – issues inherited down through the family lines.

Mars is associated with power and the desire nature – how we move forward in our lives to attain our soul’s aspirations. In the time in which we live there is clearly wounding to the Feminine –  inherited over time – and to the Inner Masculine which is associated with the right use of power.

With Chiron’s journey when old wounds are triggered the opportunity is there to face them with a heightened awareness and an increasingly enlightened response. This could also be described as bringing the Inner Masculine and Inner Feminine into more balance on a personal level  – with the Feminine providing wise inner guidance and nurturing and the Masculine providing and courage and protection.

The abuse of power is very much visible in the world around us now as is the counterbalance of more enlightened approaches.  When Chiron has transited the sign of Pisces in the past there has been an increased  growth in spiritual awareness and spiritual values.  It is true now as well.

Mars will move from Pisces into Aries on New Year’s Eve. One of the Sabian symbols for this is,”A woman has risen out of the ocean, a seal is embracing her.”

Mars and Chiron – Together Again

“We have the seeds of healing right in the problem we are facing. There is nothing to escape from, only to connect with, using our own wisdom and awareness. It is about finding meaning under ordinary circumstances, and under adverse ones, as well as ‘exalted’ ones. ” Eric Francis

“It all depends on how we look at things.” Carl Jung

Mars, the planet of desire and action is now in a close conjunction with Chiron, the asteroid of the Wounded Healer. Chiron governs the process of wounding and healing along the path  of personal evolution. This duo also governs the wounded Inner Male  (in both men and women) and the use and misuse of power. It rules reckless and impulsive actions as well as hurtful and chaotic ones. Chiron rules fragmentation and this kind of behavior often originates with an inner life that is fragmented.

Pluto the god of transformation is now conjunct Saturn and making a sextile to the Mars Chiron conjunction.

All told these aspects indicate that when painful situations arise or are triggered , there is an opportunity to transform the way we think about them in order to move in a freer, wiser and more empowered direction. This will require a strong intention – intention being Mars ruled- and the willingness to look at things on a deeper level.

Mercury is conjunct Jupiter now adding the opportunity for increased  wisdom and understanding when applied to challenging situations.

The Winter Solstice, the Full Moon and This Week’s Astrology

“You are not the oil, not the air- merely the point of combustion, the flash point where the light is born.” Dag Hammarskjold

“the lake is cold
the snows are sudden
the wild cherry bends
and winter’s a burden

in your hand I feel
spring burn in the bud.” Mary Mackey

It is another busy week in the starry heavens as we move up to the Winter Solstice Friday when the Sun enters Capricorn at 5:23 PM EST.  The Winter Solstice has been celebrated throughout time as the return of the light brings an end to the darkness of the season.

This week the Sun in Sagittarius is making a challenging aspect to Chiron, the asteroid of the Wounded Healer. At the same time Chiron is making a harmonious aspect to the South Node, newly in Capricorn. This indicates that processing and releasing pain from the past can lead to a clarified vision of your life path going forward. It can also lead to a new sense of freedom and more empowered sense of self.

The Sun in Sagittarius is making a harmonious aspect to Uranus, the planet of innovation and the future. This is a time which bodes well for embracing change and letting go of the past.

Venus is moving up to a harmonious aspect with Neptune indicating an idealistic time, a good time for romance and spiritual growth. Do be sure to integrate pragmatism as other planets signal that  hopes and expectations might be inflated or  unrealistically high.

The Moon waxes Full Saturday at 0 degrees of Cancer. The sign of Cancer can bring up issues related to home and family. Cancer and its opposite sign, Capricorn, are  both related to ancestry and ancestral inheritance – what comes down through the bloodlines. The Lunar Nodes entered these signs in November and will transit through them early 2020. The author and astrologer Lynn Bell has written about the significance of this, “It will be an excellent time to reckon with the ancestors, alive or dead, the emotional patterning that has invisibly bound us…Above all, we are called to care for our own integrity, to pay attention to the imperatives of soul. It is a potent time ahead.”

The Sabian symbol for the Winter Solstice is,”A Native American chief claims recognition and power from the assembled tribe.”

The Nodes Enter Capricorn and Cancer

The Lunar Nodes recently entered the signs of Cancer and Capricorn. Here is an interesting quote about this  from Lynn Bell who is an astrologer, author and lecturer at the Centre for Psychological Astrology in London,

“The ancestors call to us to step up and finish what they could not, to repair an error, to pay a debt. Sometimes we are pulled into circumstances reminiscent of another era, another time. The Nodes here ask us how to honour the past without being caught up in it.”

Mercury in Sagittarius, The Winter Solstice and 2019 in a Nutshell

“The longing for light is the longing for consciousness.” Carl Jung

“My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake,
The darkest evening of the year.” Robert Frost

Mercury, the sometimes Trickster God, moves out of Scorpio into the fiery sign of Sagittarius this week. The sign of Sagittarius governs the expansion of horizons – both inner and outer – and bodes well for learning, education and travel. This placement can enliven conversations and inquiries and bring the Scorpio energy out of the depths and into the light.

Sagittarius is also associated with a search for the truth and thus governs the legal system and organized religion.

We are now moving up to the Winter Solstice on the 21st when the Sun will move into the sign of Capricorn joining both Pluto and Saturn. The Solstice is followed by a Solar Eclipse on January 5 at 15  degrees of Capricorn. These placements indicate that success with be earned this upcoming year by  taking a pragmatic and disciplined approach to aspirations. Best to create  plans with a strong foundation and acknowledge incremental progress as valuable.  Keep  persistence and perseverance on the front burner.

As Caroline Casey wrote about the ruler of Capricorn,”Saturn lays the tracks for the Reality Train to follow.”

Neptune and Jupiter will be making a challenging aspect throughout the year which can lead to inflated and unrealistic hopes and wishes. Beware the promise of the shiny object! Disillusionment can be best avoided by weighing in on the pragmatic side.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”The ocean covered with whitecaps.”

Mars, Neptune and Mercury Retrograde Ends

“I sat a solitary man In a crowded London shop
An open book and an empty cup
On the marble table top
While on the shop and street I gazed
My body of a sudden blazed
And twenty minutes more or less
It seemed so great my happiness
That I was blessed and could bless.” WB Yeats

“Problems cannot be solved on the level they were created.” Albert Einstein

Given  the impending  direct station of Mercury on Thursday do make sure important files are backed up and it’s wise to remember snafus  involving communications (of all kinds) and travel are more likely to occur for the next few days.

Mercury stations are associated with a culmination of information as well. So for the next few days it is wise to be be aware of information that surfaces of that nature.

Historically Neptune’s transit through its natal sign of Pisces has correlated with the growth of spirituality on the earth. Neptune’s again entered Pisces in 2011 and will transit through this sign until 2026.

Under the influence of Neptune and Mars in Pisces (through mid month)   it is wise to strengthen the immune system and pay more attention to boundaries as this is a boundry-less combination. It is also associated with muse – type energy, however, and bodes well for creative and mystical endeavors. It is a good time over the next few days to set aside some time for inspiration, meditation or healing work.

The theosophists have a meditation for the Full Moon in which they join other theosophists throughout the world in concentrating their energies to bring a higher awareness and more Light to the world.  The strong Neptune influence now provides good timing to contemplate  your wishes and higher aspirations for future of the planet.

One of the  Sabian symbosl for the Mars Neptune conjunction is,”A sword used in many battles is now in a museum.”

Mercury Stations Direct

“Clarity is the perception of wisdom, being able to perceive and understand the illusion. ” Gary Zukav

“I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.” Alice in Wonderland

This is going to be an interesting week and it bodes well to navigate it with increased awareness. Mercury will station direct on Thursday at 27 degrees of Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign that can penetrate deeply into the essence of things and bring hidden information into the light.  Most of Mercury’s retrograde this time has been through the sign of Sagittarius – the sign of higher learning as well as  journeys that expand understanding and knowledge. This sign  also governs the legal system  and higher law.

Mercury will station in exact trine to Chiron – the asteroid of the Wounded Healer. Do be aware of information that has surfaced and will continue to surface this week that points to missing pieces of information about your journey of personal evolution . Some of this info can be related to how you may have  unintentionally misled yourself or were misled by others. Insights of this nature can clear up misconceptions and trigger personal growth and evolution.

Mercury and Chiron will also be aspecting the Nodes of the Moon and the planet of the unexpected, Uranus. There can be surprising occurrences and  information that surfaces which can result in shifts of perception.

It is a good week for creative projects and for inspiration. But as Mars moves closer to Neptune the pull of addictive impulses is likely to increase. It is a good week in general  to make an extra effort to see past confusion and deception.

The Moon waxes new Friday the 7th at 15 degrees of Sagittarius and makes a challenging aspect to Mars and Neptune. Do keep information straight. There is an atmosphere about this time that is like the truth trying to coming to light through the veils of illusion.

One of the  Sabian symbols for the New Moon is.”A vast panorama of sand and time is unfolding; the pyramids and sphinx in their glory rise before the eye.”
