New Moon in Aries

This month’s New Moon is Saturday 4/ 18 at 28 degrees of Aries EDT. Aspects indicate help and support for setting very clear intentions at this time particularly with the powerful Mars Pluto trine – it can be a very energized time for manifesting dreams. It bodes well to let go of disappointments from the past to clear the way for new aspirations. Aspects to Neptune – the planet of dreams and visions – suggest that crystal clear affirmations and intentions will receive support from higher sources. Ceres in Aquarius

Ceres the asteroid associated with nurturing is conjunct the Midheaven at the time of Saturday’s eclipse. This elevated position makes Ceres more important at this time.
The placement at 0 degrees of Aquarius speaks of nurturing individual uniqueness – prioritizing personal growth and evolution in ways that are meaningful individually. This echoes one of the themes of the ongoing Pluto/Uranus square which has to do with evolving in a direction of more personal authenticity – by ascertaining what is true for you and by disavowing the false or no- longer-relevant voices of authority in your life.

Mars Moves into Taurus

Saturn and Jupiter

We are in a time between eclipses with the upcoming Lunar Eclipse April 4 at 14 degrees of Libra. This eclipse strongly aspects the Uranus/Pluto square – the disruptive, dynamic, transformative aspect of our time – bringing it home in a very personal way.

Although there are aspects that suggest restlessness and a desire to initiate projects it is is best to pull together loose ends and finish or culminate projects in need of completion.

It also bodes well to contemplate how your life and aspirations have changed in the past five years or so and where you would like to be headed now. Pay special attention to the yearnings of the soul. Heed intuitive messages and guidance.

Solar Eclipse on the Equinox

This week as we approach the Solar eclipse (which falls on the Spring Equinox March 20) is very much a time of endings and beginnings. The final contact of the Uranus/Pluto square happens at 9:50 PM on March 16 although the effects and significance of this aspect – both personally and collectively – will be felt over many years to come.

The New Moon eclipse is at 29 degrees of Pisces (the very last degree of Pisces) and the Sabian symbol for that degree is, “A majestic rock formation resembling a face is idealized by a boy who takes it as his ideal of greatness; as he grows up, he begins to look like it.” This symbol is about our aspirations, about people or things in our lives that inspire us and that we emulate. It is also about making our aspirations manifest – as the face was in stone.

Another important symbol at this time is, “A youthful widow, fresh and soul cleansed from grief kneels at an open grave.” Shortly after the eclipse the Sun and Moon move into Aries marking the beginning of Spring and a fresh energized new start. The widow at the open grave speaks of a need to let go of the past and anything that hinders the potential progress of the powerful, action- oriented energies of the Spring Equinox.

The Week Ahead

When I was growing up I liked to spend a lot of time in the kitchen – I resonated with the mysterious alchemical surroundings : knives chopping, pots bubbling and bread rising in the oven. There was one kitchen appliance however that I had been warned about – the pressure cooker.

As a result I was wary of the rattling valve on top which contained the pressure of steam building up inside. I had been warned about the kind of explosion that could occur due to misuse or accident.

There are volatile energies for this upcoming week that remind me of the background noise of that valve rattling atop the pressure cooker.

In general tensions are building with the Pluto/Uranus square -exact on the 16th – and we are heading into Solar Eclipse on the Day of the Vernal Equinox- March 20. This week the Mars/Uranus influence is exact on March 11.

The old texts hold a number of warnings about Mars/Uranus but in my studies one of the most helpful things I have read is to watch the energy of your magnetic field that you do not attract volatile events – i.e. do not storm around angry or impatient under this influence. Provide more down time. Mars/Uranus is known for sudden, impulsive, erratic action and this can be accident prone – for yourself and on the part of others. Too much energy, too little awareness. Tempers and irritability can run high.

On a positive note Mars Uranus is known for is a sudden break for freedom which can come as the result of inner pressures building to a point where they become uncontainable. This can result in an unexpected moment of truth and also breakthroughs in areas that have felt stuck or stagnant. It is a time when we can suddenly land in territory that is new and that represents a sudden and unexpected advance.

It is a very powerful time when evolutionary leaps can occur in surprising ways if the energies are harnessed and implemented with clarity and consciousness.

Saturn Squares Neptune

One of the very strong influences throughout 2015 is Saturn square Neptune. Whenever planets are in a square aspect there is a need to build a bridge between the two energies – a need for reconciliation of seemingly conflicting forces. Squares are a call to action.

Throughout the year as these two planets form this configuration there is a call to make manifest your ideals on a more concrete everyday level. Another way to say this is to live your ideals and higher goals in a more pragmatic way.

It is important to have very clear aspirations and to stay in touch with them on a daily basis. It is also key to create a concrete framework through which those goals can manifest one step at a time and to be willing to be patient and persevering along the path.

The many rapid changes occurring in the world now, the many revelations about corruption in the business world and government which appear to thwart more ethical and idealistic models of evolution are a call to each one of us to move in a direction of higher consciousness in the way we construct our lives, interact with others and move in the direction of our destined calling.

The Jupiter/Saturn/ Uranus trine indicates support, guidance and sometimes surprising assistance from the spiritual world. Watch for signs as affirmation.
