Monday’s Full Moon in Scorpio

“Pluto is the ferryman who transports the soul through the underworld upon its death. The symbology is that when Pluto arrives, a major transformation – a rebirth – takes place. Something has to die to be reborn.” Ray  Merriman

“Pluto says.’The order you are clinging to is inhibiting your life. You may think you need it, but in fact, letting go will give you more life.” Caroline W. Casey

Clarrisa Pinkola Estes, Jungian analyst and author of Women Who Run with the Wolves, has written about the ongoing cycles of transformation or  life/death cycles that accompany us throughout our lives. She has written that  much of the harm that has come to the environment has been due to lack of appropriate understanding and respect for these cycles.

Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld is the ruler of this transformational process and Pluto’s influence will be strong at the time of the Full Moon in Scorpio on Monday. Scorpio is the opposite sign of Taurus and one quality of Taurus is  steadfastness – holding on. The sign of Scorpio has to do with the need to let go.  To start anew. From ending to beginning.

Change is certainly on the front burner these days. It’s wise at the time of this Full Moon to proceed pragmatically with any plans. It’s best to avoid impulsiveness and to remain flexible as Uranus, the planet of sudden and unexpected events, figures into the picture in a significant way also.

There is a strong pull to make changes now but Saturn is still in a tight alignment with Uranus cautioning “not so fast.” It’s a good time to take a look back and clarify what you’re leaving behind and why.

The Sun and Mercury Move into Taurus

“The earth isn’t solid. It is made of molecules and atoms, tiny universes filled with space. It is a place of light and of magic, if you only open your eyes.” Dan Millman

“The Earth is peopling as apple trees “apple.” People are produced from the Earth as apples from apple trees.” Alan Watts

The Sun and Mercury both just entered Taurus, the sign of the Bull. Under the influence of this earthy sign, pragmatics rules and attention turns to what works   It is a good time to focus on resources and what provides stability and security. While the sign of Aries may be racing towards the future with lots of ideas and plans, Taurus is the sign of the present and the wisdom of staying grounded in the present.

Taurus is a sensual sign and provides excellent timing to nurture and care for the body. It’s  also a good time to reconnect to the earth- by gardening or spending more time in special places in nature.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,” A clear mountain stream flows steadily downstream.”

Venus Joins Uranus in Taurus

“Venus is the ruler of both Taurus and Libra. As the ruler of Taurus , Venus governs the sensual realm of the rich earth: agriculture and flowers. In her rulership of Libra she presides over the festive world. Venus wants to create a setting where creative interaction can take place. The invisible rides on Venus’s props: flowers, perfume, art, wit and conviviality . All that makes the world more lovely is Venusian, as is all that acknowledges the marvelous symmetry of intricate interrelatedness. ” Caroline W Casey

“Sometimes life is so surprising there’s nothing to do but live.” Emily Dickinson

The keywords for the next couple of weeks are flexibility and equilibrium. Venus in now in Taurus and will be joined over the next week by the Sun and Mercury – with this trio moving up to a conjunction with Uranus the planet of the unexpected.

There can be surprises over the next couple of weeks : love at first sight occurrences, surprise awakenings to a new sense of self as well as unexpected messages or realizations. It’s wise to back up devices in advance and keep communications very clear. There can also be a strong desire for freedom, erratic actions and impatience.

Sunday’s New Moon in Aries

“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.” Goethe

“I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.” Dawna Narkova

The New Moon is at 10:31 PM Sunday EDT at 22 degrees of Aries. This is a feisty, fiery, action oriented  New Moon with the Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury all in Aries – the Mars -ruled sign.  This provides excellent timing for setting or reaffirming intentions and taking action on them. Mars in Gemini is making a favorable alignment to Jupiter adding more energy but with the caveat to avoid impulsiveness.

The sign of Aries is about beginnings and it bodes well to make a new start at this time.

Venus and the Moon will both be squaring Pluto indicating that old fears or concerns about the lack of love or pleasure can more easily arise. Feelings can be more powerful under this influence.

Mars and Neptune Together Again

What water lapping the bow
And scent of pine and the wood thrush singing through the fog
What images return
Oh my daughter.” TS Eliot

Over the next few days Mars the planet of action and desire will be forming a challenging aspect to Neptune – the planet which rules, among other things, fog. This combination can contribute to an atmosphere of confusion. It’s best to make sure when making any decisions now that all the information is in and to watch out for any unnecessary complexity. Keep things simple and use common sense.

At the same time Saturn is making a harmonious alignment with both the North Node and Mercury indicating that there is support for long term goals build on a solid foundation. Patience and perseverance are the best ways to proceed now.

“What is this darkness? What is its name? Call it an aptitude for sensitivity. Call it a rich sensitivity which will make you whole. Call it your potential for vulnerability.” Meister Eckhart

The Moon waxes full Sunday March 28 at 2:48 PM EDT  at 8 degrees of Libra. At this time the Moon will be opposing the Sun, Venus and  Chiron at 8 degrees of Aries. In mythology Chiron was known as the Wounded Healer but what is often overlooked about him was that he was a teacher and mentor and well.

The placements of the Sun, Venus and Chiron indicate a time when personal vulnerabilities may be more apparent than usual. Mars and the North node will be making a favorable alignment to this trio indicating that there is an opportunity to move forward on your life path in an significant way by revisioning and reframing  vulnerabilities in way that leads to increased wisdom and wholeness.

It is a good time to think about bringing a better balance to relationships- all kinds of relationships.

Intention and Saturday’s Vernal Equinox

“Your intention holds a loving and secure place for you as you go through challenging moments.” Kyle Cease
A few years ago when I was studying with a school of shamanism out west, I called the office hoping to have some questions answered. The woman who answered the phone said she’d connect me with the director. But minutes later, she came back on and said,” I’m sorry there’s no one here right now – the office is empty. I think they went out to the canyon to do a ritual – today’s the Vernal Equinox.”
Throughout time the Equinoxes and Solstices have been powerful times for ritual and intention setting. There are several indications of this with the upcoming Spring Equinox on Saturday at 5:37 AM EDT as well.
Pallas Athene the asteroid of strategy and advocacy is conjunct Mercury in Pisces. Mercury in Pisces is about your higher aspirations and when conjunct Pallas lends extra power for actualization .
Mars in Gemini is conjunct the North Node indicating energetic progress can be made on your intended path. Jupiter is making a favorable alignment with the Moon indicating a time of increased hope and optimism.

Saturday the Moon is new at 5:21 AM EST at 23 degrees of Pisces. This is a beautiful New Moon with the Sun, Moon and Venus conjunct in this  ethereal, mysterious, watery sign of the zodiac. Pluto, the Lord of Transformation, is making a favorable aspect to the Pisces planets.

New Moons are a good time for setting or reaffirming intentions. This very favorable alignment provides an excellent time for spiritual and emotional renewal. It’s a good time to spend some quiet time in nature – particularly near a stream or spring or by the sea.

This New Moon conjures up images of the holy wells in the British Isles that were often the center of pilgrimages or visited for their curative properties. In pagan times these holy wells were places of worship.
