Saturday’s Full Moon in Virgo

“the Cambridge ladies do not care, above
Cambridge if sometimes in its box of
sky lavender and cornerless, the

moon rattles like a fragment of angry candy.” ee cummings

“Reframe stress as challenges and opportunities, generate reality based hope.” Howard Clinebell

It’s wise to keep moderation and equilibrium in mind as we approach the upcoming testy  Full Moon on  Saturday Feb 27  in the wee hours at 3:17 AM EST at 8 degrees of Virgo. This is a tense Full Moon with Mercury, Saturn and Jupiter making a challenging alignment with Uranus.

It’s best to keep eyes on the long haul and seek innovative solutions. Virgo is the sign noted for discrimination so it bodes well under this influence to engage with projects that involve  creating order or separating what’s no longer needed from what’s needed.

The Sun, Venus and Uranus

“Freedom is necessary for choice and choice in necessary for wisdom and growth… the sacred world of love and wisdom, fiery intelligence and passionate will, imagination and delight – is a world of freedom. But it is also binding and connecting.” David Spangler

“They’re both convinced
that a sudden passion joined them.
Such certainty is beautiful,
But uncertainty is more beautiful still…

Every beginning is a sequel after all,
and the book of events
is always open halfway through.” Wislawa Szymborska

This week the Sun will be making a harmonious aspect to Uranus. On  Thursday as Venus enters Pisces the planet of love and beauty will also be aligning with Uranus, the planet of freedom, surprises and of the unexpected.

The Sun in this alignment indicates a good time for originality in thinking. It bodes well under this influence to let go of outmoded ways of thinking  and feeling – and move forward with increased  clarity and determination.

Uranus is  a lover of innovation. When partnering up with Venus it  provides a good time  to muse about  new models for relationship (all kinds of relationships) which allow for more spontaneity, authenticity  and autonomy.

Old lovers can reappear under this influence and there can be “love at first sight ” events.

Mars is moving up to a good alignment to Pluto. These two, when together, are unstoppable and lend energy, drive and determination. It’s a good week for getting things done.

Saturn Squares Uranus and Mercury Retrograde Draws to an End

“When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius” The Fifth Dimension

Today Saturn squares Uranus exactly for the first of three  times this year. This influence which will be with us throughout the year, is about the tension between holding on and letting go. It is very much about what the Peruvian shamans call “the snake shedding her skin” to describe the process of personal evolution. It’s about letting go of outdated ways of thinking and acting  to move forward in a more  free and evolved direction. This applies  both personally and collectively.

Mercury and Jupiter are traveling together now indicating a good time to broaden thinking and expand awareness. The advent of the Age of Aquarius involves the evolution to higher level consciousness about the way we inhabit the planet. It will not happen automatically but is dependent on individuals and groups manifesting a more idealistic and humane vision of how life can be. We can all be part of this.

Mercury is slowing down to station direct and end the retrograde period on Saturday 2/20.  Do raise awareness about any information that may surface before the station  and for several days  following because this time frame is associated with a culmination of wisdom.

Thursday’s New Moon in Aquarius

“Let your mind be free- let it be open.” Linda Fitch

The Moon waxes new Thursday February 11 at 2:06 PM EST at 23 degrees of Aquarius. This is ushering in a time when it bodes well to work with places in your life that feel stagnant or stuck by letting go of the current perception(s) and making  space for new ideas to come in.

This New Moon is a very good time to be inventive and innovative. It’s an idea moon.

This Week in a Nutshell

“Behind our existence lies something accessible to us only by shaking off the world.” Arthur Schoepenhauer

“Only an instant is needed for insight to break through since it comes always as a single unity, not in some digital breakdown. Insight is always complete and perfect  in it’s single instant’s appearance for its wholeness. It appears in all or nothing form.” Joseph Chilton Pearce

It’s a busy week in the starry heavens. The week starts of with Mercury conjunct the Sun at the midpoint of the Mercury retrograde period. Do be open to any insights that surface as significant information may emerge at this time. There can be important communications and also also new ideas about the future. It’s a good time to review how you communicate to push things forward.

The Sun in Aquarius will conjunct Pallas Athene, the asteroid of strategy and diplomacy. There can be insights that arise about how better to advocate for what is important to you especially in areas of life where you work or collaborate with others.

There can be irritability and impatience around this week too as Mercury squares Mars. It’s wise to keep communications clear as misunderstandings can more easily occur during the retrograde period and with this more heated influence. This can echo the Saturn/Uranus square in effect all year which speaks of a conflict between holding on to a more familiar past or moving into more visionary territory.

Mercury in Aquarius will be trining the North Node in Gemini indicating a good time to review where you’ve been on your evolutionary life path and heed ideas or revelations about where you’re going. The North Node is the place of life path and destiny in this lifetime.

Venus Moves up to Saturn, Mars Dances with Neptune

“Millionaires often go to Buddhist monks to find happiness, the opposite rarely happens.” Kevin Cease

“Money is part of abundance but so is passion, fulfillment, connection and contribution.” Kevin Cease

“We cannot suspend our values during the workday and think we will have them back when we get home. We’re all interconnected. There is a spiritual dimension to business just as to individuals.” Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield.

Venus is moving up to a conjunction to Saturn now. Venus is  in Aquarius and in this sign she is open minded, innovative and a lover of community and working collaboratively. This is the way forward for the Age of Aquarius and for creating a more sustainable future.

Saturn will be squaring Uranus throughout this year – creating a tension between holding on and letting go. Venus governs values and what we value and in our time of rapid changes on the planet, it bodes well  with Mercury retrograde- to take some time and review  values and what is valuable to you –  to see if any correction or  updating is necessary.

If  there are any ideas or plans  on the table  about working with others  this would be a good time to review them.

Mars is aligning with Neptune now indicating a good time for idealism, for dreaming and for visioning.

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

At the time of this Full Moon – Thursday January 28 at 2:16 PM EST – it bodes well to summon courage and creativity for the journey forward. The Full Moon is at 9 degrees of Leo opposite the Sun at 9 degrees of Aquarius. The sign of Leo is bold and courageous, the sign of Aquarius innovative and community oriented.  Networking, collaborating and community building  are all favored now.

Saturn and widely conjunct the Sun and Jupiter and opposing the Moon. It’s wise to keep moderation in mind at this time. Surprising developments continue to be on the table with the role Uranus and Mars are playing – squaring the Sun and Moon. Best to provide extra down time and nurture the nervous system.

This Week in Astrology as Mercury Prepares to Station Retrograde

“To love is not a state; it’s a direction.” Simone Weil

“Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone; it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new.”Ursula Le Guin

The Sun is conjunct Saturn now and Venus is approaching Pluto. These two together can bring up fears and  concerns about things Venusian – love, relationships and finances. The Sun is widely conjunct Jupiter now as well indicating it’s wise to broaden perspective in order to ascertain answers if needed.

Venus and Pluto together (through the 30th) provides good timing to be in touch with the deeper meaning of love and love as a spiritual force in the world.

With both planets in Capricorn it bodes well to strategize about how to transform and improve  matters  of love and money if necessary.

Mercury is preparing to station retrograde on Saturday the 30th. Mercury will station at 26 degrees of Aquarius. It will travel retrograde through the 21 of Feb when it will station at 11 degrees of Aquarius. This transit will offer a good time to slow down, rethink, review and revision after the many fast paced changes that have occurred.

Mercury retrograde periods are good for recharging..

It’s also  is wise to back up any important info before the retrograde station.

Mars, Uranus and the Sun in Aquarius

“Where there is danger
The saving powers also rise.” Holderlin

“The silver wisdom of the head must be changed into the golden wisdom of the heart by the warmth of human love.” Gareth Knight

The key words for this week are restraint and wisdom.

With the ongoing Mars /Uranus conjunction – exact on Wednesday-  there is a tendency to want to break free of restrictions. There is a rebellious side to this duo which has been an influence recently. It can be a time when irritability runs high, impatience abounds and people take impulsive action often without appropriate forethought. It can be accident prone for this reason. It’s best to harness and direct this energy to get moving on projects and initiatives that are important to you.

Uranus is a strong player this week in general as the Sun enters Aquarius on Tuesday. This indicates that innovative thinking is on the table for the next month. Cooperation and collaboration are supported.

Mercury in Aquarius is moving up to a favorable alignment to the North Node of life path and destiny . Do heed any information that surfaces this week related to your path to the future.

As the Sun enters Aquarius it will enter the Saturn/Uranus square which is will be in influence throughout the year and symbolizes the struggle between the desire to move in a more innovative direction as opposed to the more traditional or restrictive ways of the past.

Stellium of Planets with Mars, Saturn and Uranus.

“Patience is required now – slow, steady, determined efforts.”  Nadia Gilchrist

“What shape waits in the seed of you to grow and spread its branches against a future sky?” David Whyte

There is a large cluster of planets – a stellium – in the sky now involving the Sun and Pluto in late Capricorn and Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, the Moon and Pallas Athene in early Aquarius.

The appropriate use of power continues to be on the front burner. Mars is in a challenging alignment with Saturn , indicating a time of frustration. Best to pursue a moderate path and avoid overwork and overdoing.

Mars is conjunct Uranus, the planet of the unexpected for several more weeks. Mars, the planet of action and desire is frustrated in the sign of Taurus and when combined with Uranus- the planet of the unexpected –  can indicate the need to break free of pent up energy. It’s best to avoid impulsive behavior -both individually and on the part of others.

This duo can be hard on the nervous system. It’s best to create extra space  for renewal and rejuvenation.
