Wednesday’s New Moon in Capricorn

“The bamboo for prosperity,” a Japanese friend explained to me,”the pine for long life, the plum for courage… the plum for courage because the plum puts forth blossoms while the snow is still on the ground.” Anne Morrow Lindbergh

“Intent is infinite.” Carlos Castenda

There is a powerful New Moon Wednesday in the wee hours at 12:02 AM EST.

At this time the  Sun and Moon will be conjunct Pluto the planet of the Underworld at 23 degrees of Capricorn. This conjunction has depth and intensity to it and lends power to effecting change and transformation. It is a good time to look at what you would like to change in your life and make a pragmatic plan to make this happen.

There is frustrating energy at this time as Mars and Uranus form a challenging alignment to Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury. It’s best to focus on a your inner resourcefulness and the aspects of your life that are under your control.  It’s wise at this time to stay in touch with things that bring inspiration, hope and courage in your life.

We are living through times of great change on planet earth.  As with all New Moons it’s wise to keep a bright vision of your plans and goals and keep  in mind a healthy sustainable future for the planet.

This Week with Pluto, Mercury, Mars and Uranus

“In some tribal cultures there are two words for power, mana and taboo; the power which creates and the power which destroys. Odd that we have retained in our vocabulary the word for dangerous power. taboo, and have lost the mana.” Madeleine L’Engle

“I like the dream of the future better than the history of the past.”Thomas Jefferson

Mars, the planet of action and desire is very active in the sky now – squaring Pluto.  This week Mercury will move up to a conjunction to Pluto – the Lord of the underworld.

Pluto and Mars together provide a good time to heighten  awareness of the way you direct and implement your power to accomplish  your goals and make improvements in this area if necessary. This dynamic duo is often in the charts of professional athletes – who work towards their goals with  intense focus, commitment and disciplined action.

Mercury will conjunct Pluto throughout this week boding well for thinking deeply about things. This combination is often found in the charts of detectives and researchers. It can add depth to thinking and is a good time for therapy. This duo does have a compulsive side and it’s wise to watch for overthinking.

Thursday Mars will leave the sign of Aries and enter the sign of Taurus. Under this influence (through mid- February) it’s wise to guard against impulsive action. This is a volatile combination and can be hard on the nervous system so it’s best throughout this time frame to provide for extra downtime and nurture the nervous system.

Friday Mercury will move into Aquarius joining Saturn and Pluto. The Saturn/Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius which occurred on the Winter Solstice is considered by many to be the harbinger of the Age of Aquarius.

A note on 2021 – Saturn in Aquarius will form a challenging alignment with Uranus three times this year and be a major influence throughout the year. This indicates throughout the year there will be tension between the old ways of doing things and the more innovative new ways.

It’s likely to be a bumpy ride this year as the forces of the past meet up with the more innovative forces of the future. There is a lot of potential at this time but progress is likely to be incremental.

It’s wise to cultivate patience and keep a high level of inspiration in your life throughout the year. Look for innovative ways to work with challenges.

The Jupiter Saturn Conjunction on the Winter Solstice

Some wise words from Ray Merriman, astrologer and stock market analyst.

“We are now heading to the start of the “Age of Aquarius,” and the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction on Monday, December 21, takes place at 0° Aquarius.

The Age of Pisces brought forth a savior who taught the importance of peace and love for one another, perfect Piscean values. Aquarius, on the other hand, is more worldly-oriented. It is a symbol of mankind, the
masses of the world, but it more scientific and technology-based than Pisces. The Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, known as “The Great Chronocrator,” has been looked upon in the past as a sign foretelling
the emergence of new world leaders, and a shift in the arc of human destiny.

Thus, to those who look to the heavens for guidance and who understand the relationship between cycles in human activity to cycles
in the cosmos, this is an important time in the evolution of humanity.

“All spiritual growth requires walking the quiet path of patience.” Rilke

Today’s New Moon Eclipse at 23 degrees of Sagittarius opens the door to a new, more optimistic time. It is a good time for expanding perspectives through research and learning.  It’s best to keep aspirations high and feet on the ground. Slow, steady progress is the way to move forward.

Jupiter and Saturn will both enter the sign of Aquarius this week – on the way to their exact conjunction on the Winter Solstice. This is a hopeful combination and indicates a very good time for implementing much needed reform.

Venus will leave the sign of Scorpio and enter Sagittarius this week . If there are areas of life related to finances and relationships that have felt stalled out, they may start to move forward now.  It’s wise throughout the week to heed any information that surfaces that represents a culmination of information about these realms.

Pallas Athene, the Sun and Neptune

“To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”  Buckminster Fuller

This week Pallas Athene, the goddess of justice, advocacy and diplomacy, entered the sign of Aquarius.  On the Winter Solstice Saturn and Jupiter will join her in this sign of inventiveness and innovation- ushering  in a new twenty year era.

This week the Sun in Sagittarius is moving up to a square with Neptune, the planet of dreams and illusions. This aspect can blur thinking and add some confusion to the mix. It does bode well for dreams, creativity and spiritual work.

Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld and Eris, the asteroid of discord are making their final square  this week. Pluto and Eris are associated with much of the upheaval we have seen the past several years. Although widely known as the asteroid of discord, Eris is also a female warrior goddess who is not afraid to reveal the shadow or hidden side of things to effect change.

Fiery Mars in Aries will be making a harmonious aspect to the Sun in Sagittarius. This is a high energy aspect and good for taking action – as long as the goals are clear and impulsiveness is avoided- given Neptune’s strong influence this week.

The Sun is moving up to a conjunction with the South Node of past life karma. This can be a time when it’s possible to see more clearly old unproductive thought and behavior patterns from the past.

We are moving into a new era.

We’re in between this season’s  eclipses now – the first was Monday Nov 30 at 8 degrees of Gemini  – a Lunar Eclipse and the second eclipse- a Solar Eclipse  is December 14 at 23 Sagittarius.

Eclipses are evolutionary in nature and their effects can be felt six weeks in advance as well as six weeks following the actual event.

This month’s eclipses – on the Gemini / Sagittarius axis have to do with the mind – how we think, what our philosophy of life is and how we broaden our horizons through learning something new or exploring new territory.

With the influence of the  Lunar Eclipse in Gemini it’s wise to look for missing links in information – things in our thinking that may have been eclipsed or not visible before.

The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius provides good timing to think about how you’d like to expand your life to provide for more growth, expansiveness and adventure.

Mercury will enter the sign of Sagittarius this week. This livens up the dark season heading towards the Solstice and ushers in a more sociable time.

Monday’s Full Moon  at 8 degrees of Gemini is exact at 4:29 AM EST. This Full Moon is a Lunar Eclipse which empowers intentions.

It is possible with this influence to fall back into unproductive, old, habitual thought patterns and so it is wise to stay focused on the positive visions you have for your life.  It’s wise to take some time away from the news and social media to nurture your soul life and your soul’s desires by infusing them with positive thoughts and energy.

We’re coming up on the Jupiter Saturn conjunction on the Winter Solstice. This is a harbinger of hope for the future and some astronomers speculate that it was the light from two these planets that the three Wise Men were following on their journey to the stable in Bethlehem.

Throughout this week as well as at the time of the eclipse, Venus in Scorpio will be forming an opposition to Uranus in Taurus. This provides a good time to explore innovative ideas in the realm of relationships and financial matters. There may be some unexpected events in these areas so it’s wise to summon your intuition and have strong boundaries in place throughout this week and next.

The second eclipse- the Solar Eclipse-  is on December 14 at 23 Sagittarius.

The eclipses are leading us up to the Jupiter /Saturn conjunction on the Winter Solstice, December 21. The Jupiter Saturn conjunction is one of the major events of 2020.  This pair is aligned this way every twenty years and signals a more optimistic time  when much needed reforms are put in place.

This New Moon Cycle and This Week in Astrology

“Everything that exists is an expression of relationships, alliances and balances of energies, powers and spirits.” I. David Peat

The New Moon was Monday Nov 16 in the wee hours EST at 23 degrees of Scorpio. At this time the Moon was  making a beneficent alignment with the Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto conjunction. This  ushers in a new cycle which provides excellent timing for starting new projects and setting new goals. It also favors renewed optimism and  opportunities for material and spiritual growth and expansion.

This is another busy week in the starry skies as Venus moves up to engage the Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter conjunction. We are living in times of great change and this aspect provides an opportunity to review relationships in your life,  to catch up on what changes have occurred thus far and what you’d like to see happen in the future.  Pluto /Venus encourages letting go of outworn beliefs, Saturn advises making sober choices and Jupiter brings optimism and a sense of expansion.

Mercury is moving up to an opposition to Uranus in Taurus. There can be significant breakthroughs in understanding with this aspect.  Often under this influence there can also be surprising events and occurrences. It can be hard on the nervous system so it’s wise to provide extra downtime for rest, renewal and the integration of information.

Saturday Venus will enter the sign of Scorpio and the Sun will enter the sign of Sagittarius – moving us one step closer to the return of the Light on the Winter Solstice on December 21.

Mercury, Mars and a Peek at This Week’s Astrology

“One cannot speak of  mystery. One must be seized by it.” Rene Magritte

Some say a squadron of horse, some, infantry,
Some, ships are the loveliest thing
On the black earth. But I say
It’s what you desire.” Sappho

It’s another busy week in the starry heavens as Mars, the planet of action and desire, prepares to station direct on Friday.

Mercury will re-enter Scorpio,  the sign of depth and mystery on Tuesday after the brief retrograde stint in late Libra. This presents a good time – through the beginning of December to contemplate the mysteries of life  as we make our way through the “darkness before the dawn” to  celebrate the return of the Light on the Winter Solstice, December 21.

Thursday Jupiter and Pluto will be conjunct in the late degrees of Capricorn. This is the third and final  2020 conjunction of these two heavy weights. which are associated with events of a global nature. On a personal level it can strengthen ambition and the desire for success.

And the long -awaited end to the Mars retrograde will come Friday at 7:30 PM EST at 15 degrees of Aries.   Areas of life that have been stuck can  start to move forward and start to make progress. In general the retrograde period – since 9/9 – has been a good time to reconsider the Mars related areas of life – what we desire and feel passionate about and how we use and direct energy. It bodes well to consider now -as Mars is stationary in the sky in preparation for the station – how ideas have changed or evolved in these areas.
