Mercury Retrograde, Mars and Neptune

“Dawn points, and another day
Prepares for heat and silence. Out at sea the dawn wind
Wrinkles and slides. I am here
Or there, or elsewhere. In my beginning.” TS Eliot
One of the gifts of the Mercury retrograde period is that it offers the opportunity for a period of reflection and renewal culminating in a time of new beginnings when Mercury stations direct.
This particular retrograde period- through June 11 – is a good time to look at your use of personal power in relation to
your customary thought patterns and assumptions. Do your underlying thoughts and feelings support or weaken the way you move towards your goals? Are there contradictory or undermining ideas that need to be let go of?
Mars has been making a challenging aspect to Neptune during this time and this aspect is similar to the Hanged Man in the Tarot deck. When the Hanged Man appears in a reading it indicates that there will be a delay – and the purpose of this delay is some sort of change in perception. Surrender is associated with this card and the Hanged Man is unable to move but there is a golden halo or light around his head – indicating that the information he needs can be accessed through higher consciousness or by surrendering to a higher power.
There is is a dreamy ethereal quality to the aspects now indicating  that the information may come through dreams, intuitions or musing so be sure to leave some time to be in that kind of space. Robert Bly described it well one time. He wrote that one time when he was giving a workshop by the sea in Maine, he noticed an older man in the back of the room with tears in his eyes. When Bly later asked him about it the man said that he had always been an ambitious, hard working person in the world but now he found himself just wanting to watch the sea birds gliding above the waves.

Full Moon in Sagittarius

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” Anais Nin

The Moon waxes Full Tuesday June 2 at 11 degrees of Sagittarius at 12:19 PM EDT. The Sabian symbol associated with this time is, “A flag turns into an eagle; the eagle into a chanticleer saluting the dawn.” The eagle symbolizes spiritual will and the ability to rise above mundane perceptions to a place of higher consciousness and clarity of purpose. The eagle flies high and can see the dawn early from a great height – the chantileer ( a name for a rooster used in fairy tales) announces the dawn’s arrival.

This Full Moon offers and opportunity for an awakening to another level of clarity about how to proceed on your life path. It is a good time to be in touch with your highest aspirations and to assess your progress up to this point. The sign of Sagittarius is associated with the broadening of horizons and the spirit of adventure. It challenges us to take the next step.

With planets in Gemini making challenging aspects to Neptune it is a good time to entertain multiple options. If you feel stuck assume all the information is not in. Mercury will station direct June 11 – ushering in a good time frame to move forward with renewed courage and a sense of adventure.

Pallas, Venus and Pluto

“Storytelling is bringing up, hauling up: it is not an idle practice… There must be a little blood spilled on every story if it is to carry the medicine.” Clarissa Pinkola Estes

One of the Sabian symbols associated with the current transit of Pallas Athena – the goddess of advocacy and justice – is, “The sculptor’s vision is slowly taking form.” Pallas governs the process of how to advocate for the life you want.
Pallas has been squaring Chiron making this a good time to revisit the “stories we tell ourselves” – the way you ordinarily interpret past events in your life and whether these stories and perceptions empower or undermine progress. It may be time for more empowered interpretations.
Transits to Venus indicate a powerful time to let go of outgrown perceptions in order to move forward in a less encumbered, more direct way.
Look for blind spots.
This process takes time and is a good thing to consider under the influence of this particular Mercury retrogade period (through mid June.)

New Moon in Taurus Monday

“The act of perception is always open ended and unfinished.” David Abrams

There is a very powerful New Moon tomorrow – Monday 5/18 EDT at 29 Taurus. It a good time to look at how you care for and nurture yourself along the road of life. Some good questions to ask would be- What would bring more joy into your life and how do you plan to create that? How well are you using your inner and outer resources to attain your aspirations? And how much do you believe in yourself and your abilities? Is that in need of updating? If any of these questions need addressing now is the time to address them and set intentions for new initiatives.

It is best to process and release the source of any anger or frustration that arises at this time. Jupiter continues to make a beneficent trine to Uranus – bringing very fortunate and sometimes out of the blue opportunities for growth and expansion which can be more easily perceived if you are in a place of optimism and abundance.

Mercury stations retrograde on the day of the New Moon at 13 degrees of Gemini and the Sabian symbol for that is, “Two people at widely different points are in conversation with each other by means of telepathy.” This Mercury retrograde period (through June 12) bodes well for telepathic communication.

Mercury Retrograde in Gemini

The Mad Hatter: ” Why is a raven like a writing desk?”
“Have you guessed the answer to the riddle yet?” the Hatter said, turning to Alice again.
“No I give it up,”Alice replied:” What is the answer?”
“I haven’t the slightest idea,” said the Hatter. ” Lewis Carroll

Mercury, the planet governing communication will station retrograde on May 19 in difficult aspect to the planet of dreams and illusions – Neptune. Mars is in Gemini now and this trio of Mercury, Mars and Neptune is likely to result in a confusing time frame increasing the potential complications of Mercury retrograde periods.

The likelihood of snafus with communication or the interpretation of information is high now. Even if your research has led you to believe it is all locked up, look again for blind spots or missing information.

Double check that emails, texts etc have been sent and received before jumping to conclusions. Carefully review any legal documents that need to be signed through late June.
It also bodes well to make an extra effort to communicate clearly and slow down when making decisions or moving about in the world.
Mercury will station direct June 12.
On the upside this time frame is very good for creative visualization and creative projects as well as spiritual growth.

Mars moves into Gemini

“The fairest thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science.”Albert Einstein

Mars is in Gemini now and the Sabian symbol associated with its degree is, “A glass bottomed boat reveals undersea wonders.” Through the lens of glass on the boat’s bottom, people are able to see and experience a realm normally hidden from view.

It is a good time for intuition. Pay attention to things that can bring a sense of wonder or discovery. With some of the challenging aspects Mars is making now that tend towards overwork and overwhelm – be sure to provide extra down time to access information from higher realms.

On the Saturn Neptune Square

“Saturn is approaching the square to Neptune, destabilizing our old certainties. As old forms weaken, new visions rise to take their place.

Imagination, Creativity and New Love – Weekend Astrology

“Imagination is not what we have conceived it to be; not the fantastic speculations of our brain, but a true seeing of the inner reality that can be.” Caitlin and John Matthews

This weekend Mercury is square Neptune making it a good time for the imagination, creativity and spiritual growth. Due take extra care with communication as this combo is known for snafus in communication. It can affect travel as well so leave extra time when moving about.

The emergence of a new love is possible as well. One of the Sabian symbols associated with this weekend is, “A woman in midlife stands in rapt sudden realization of forgotten charms, in unexpected recovery of romance.” This symbol is about a new opportunity for passion and romance – a time of second chances. It also concerns the renewal of love and discovering or rediscovering a passion in life.

Mercury, Saturn and Neptune

“The dream image planted in the body acts as a magnet attracting the energy, transforming it and releasing its healing powers.” Marion Woodman

One of the interesting aspects at the time of the Full Moon this weekend is that Mercury will be opposing Saturn and squaring Neptune. This configuration is about the relationship of your dreams to your thinking-making it a good time to look at the trajectory your dreams follow- once conceptualized. Are they shut down too early due to over riding concerns related to traditional thinking or “the way things are done?” Or do they fail to factor in the importance of creating an appropriate form for growth and evolution in the exterior world over time? Are you open enough to the process of guidance unfolding gradually
in a myriad of forms?

One of the themes of the ongoing influence of the Uranus/Pluto square is to challenge authority. This has to do with thinking and the outer authority that has been accepted – be it familial, cultural, religious – that can limit expansion or evolution.

“Live from the dream outward,” Carl Jung wrote.

Full Moon in Scorpio

“One must choose in all things a mean, just and good… Error and confusion dwell in the extremes.” Pythagoras

There is an old expression in astrology, “Full Moons are two days coming and two days going” and it is wise to factor in this influence as the Moon waxes Full Sunday at 13 degrees of Scorpio.

This Full Moon falls on the axis of Taurus – what we value – both in profound and mundane ways – and Scorpio – the sign which governs deep transformation and what we must let go if in order to move forward. Taurus wants to hold on, Scorpio demands letting go.

The Sun and Moon both square Jupiter – the planet associated with excess – and Jupiter forms a difficult angle with Pluto which tends to push things into overdrive. Watch for the tendency to overdo, over think and over react. With Saturn’s influence any new ideas or guidance that surfaces now is best sorted out over time rather than acted on immediately. It is easy to get swept away and bodes well to factor in pragmatics later.

It is a time when there could be important discoveries or revelations – as long as a moderate approach rules the day. One of the Sabian symbols for this time is, “A teacher gives new symbolic forms to traditional images. ”

The light of the Full Moon can unveil hidden things and give new courage and strength to go forward with a clarified vision.

Another symbols is, ” A canoe approaching safety through dangerous waters.”
