Pallas Athene, the Sun and Neptune

“To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”  Buckminster Fuller

This week Pallas Athene, the goddess of justice, advocacy and diplomacy, entered the sign of Aquarius.  On the Winter Solstice Saturn and Jupiter will join her in this sign of inventiveness and innovation- ushering  in a new twenty year era.

This week the Sun in Sagittarius is moving up to a square with Neptune, the planet of dreams and illusions. This aspect can blur thinking and add some confusion to the mix. It does bode well for dreams, creativity and spiritual work.

Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld and Eris, the asteroid of discord are making their final square  this week. Pluto and Eris are associated with much of the upheaval we have seen the past several years. Although widely known as the asteroid of discord, Eris is also a female warrior goddess who is not afraid to reveal the shadow or hidden side of things to effect change.

Fiery Mars in Aries will be making a harmonious aspect to the Sun in Sagittarius. This is a high energy aspect and good for taking action – as long as the goals are clear and impulsiveness is avoided- given Neptune’s strong influence this week.

The Sun is moving up to a conjunction with the South Node of past life karma. This can be a time when it’s possible to see more clearly old unproductive thought and behavior patterns from the past.

We are moving into a new era.

This Week in Astrology a Nutshell

“Freedom is necessary for choice and choice is necessary for wisdom and growth. The sacred world of love and wisdom, fiery intelligence and passionate will, imagination and delight – is a world of freedom. But it is also binding and connecting.” David Spangler

“Genuinely loving people are, by definition, growing people.” M Scott Peck

We’re in between this season’s  eclipses now – the first was Monday Nov 30 at 8 degrees of Gemini  – a Lunar Eclipse and the second eclipse- a Solar Eclipse  is December 14 at 23 Sagittarius.

Eclipses are evolutionary in nature and their effects can be felt six weeks in advance as well as six weeks following the actual event.

This month’s eclipses – on the Gemini / Sagittarius axis have to do with the mind – how we think, what our philosophy of life is and how we broaden our horizons through learning something new or exploring new territory.

With the influence of the  Lunar Eclipse in Gemini it’s wise to look for missing links in information – things in our thinking that may have been eclipsed or not visible before.

The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius provides good timing to think about how you’d like to expand your life to provide for more growth, expansiveness and adventure.

Mercury will enter the sign of Sagittarius this week. This livens up the dark season heading towards the Solstice and ushers in a more sociable time.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is, “A bluebird, a sign of good luck and happiness, is standing at the door of the house.”

Monday’s Full Moon in Gemini

” Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work and don’t give up.” Anne Lamott

“Hope is a memory of the future.” Gabriel Marcel

Monday’s Full Moon  at 8 degrees of Gemini is exact at 4:29 AM EST. This Full Moon is a Lunar Eclipse which empowers intentions.

It is possible with this influence to fall back into unproductive, old, habitual thought patterns and so it is wise to stay focused on the positive visions you have for your life.  It’s wise to take some time away from the news and social media to nurture your soul life and your soul’s desires by infusing them with positive thoughts and energy.

We’re coming up on the Jupiter Saturn conjunction on the Winter Solstice. This is a harbinger of hope for the future and some astronomers speculate that it was the light from two these planets that the three Wise Men were following on their journey to the stable in Bethlehem.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”An old fashioned well with the purest and coldest of water.’

Eclipse Season is Here Again

“There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands.” Richard Bach

“To love is not a state; it is a direction.” Simone Weil

We’re moving into eclipse season now with a Lunar Eclipse on Monday Nov 30 at 8 degrees of Gemini – the sign of the twins and duality. Eclipses are evolutionary doorways and their effects can be felt in advance of the event as well as following it. The eclipse is exact at 4:29 AM EST.

Throughout this week as well as at the time of the eclipse, Venus in Scorpio will be forming an opposition to Uranus in Taurus. This provides a good time to explore innovative ideas in the realm of relationships and financial matters. There may be some unexpected events in these areas so it’s wise to summon your intuition and have strong boundaries in place throughout this week and next.

The second eclipse- the Solar Eclipse-  is on December 14 at 23 Sagittarius.

The eclipses are leading us up to the Jupiter /Saturn conjunction on the Winter Solstice, December 21. The Jupiter Saturn conjunction is one of the major events of 2020.  This pair is aligned this way every twenty years and signals a more optimistic time  when much needed reforms are put in place.

One of the Sabian symbols for Monday’s eclipse is, ” A medieval archer stands with the ease of one wholly sure of himself, bow in hand, his quiver filled with arrows.”

This New Moon Cycle and This Week in Astrology

“Everything that exists is an expression of relationships, alliances and balances of energies, powers and spirits.” I. David Peat

The New Moon was Monday Nov 16 in the wee hours EST at 23 degrees of Scorpio. At this time the Moon was  making a beneficent alignment with the Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto conjunction. This  ushers in a new cycle which provides excellent timing for starting new projects and setting new goals. It also favors renewed optimism and  opportunities for material and spiritual growth and expansion.

This is another busy week in the starry skies as Venus moves up to engage the Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter conjunction. We are living in times of great change and this aspect provides an opportunity to review relationships in your life,  to catch up on what changes have occurred thus far and what you’d like to see happen in the future.  Pluto /Venus encourages letting go of outworn beliefs, Saturn advises making sober choices and Jupiter brings optimism and a sense of expansion.

Mercury is moving up to an opposition to Uranus in Taurus. There can be significant breakthroughs in understanding with this aspect.  Often under this influence there can also be surprising events and occurrences. It can be hard on the nervous system so it’s wise to provide extra downtime for rest, renewal and the integration of information.

Saturday Venus will enter the sign of Scorpio and the Sun will enter the sign of Sagittarius – moving us one step closer to the return of the Light on the Winter Solstice on December 21.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”A Red Cross nurse with warm sympathy.”

Mercury, Mars and a Peek at This Week’s Astrology

“One cannot speak of  mystery. One must be seized by it.” Rene Magritte

Some say a squadron of horse, some, infantry,
Some, ships are the loveliest thing
On the black earth. But I say
It’s what you desire.” Sappho

It’s another busy week in the starry heavens as Mars, the planet of action and desire, prepares to station direct on Friday.

Mercury will re-enter Scorpio,  the sign of depth and mystery on Tuesday after the brief retrograde stint in late Libra. This presents a good time – through the beginning of December to contemplate the mysteries of life  as we make our way through the “darkness before the dawn” to  celebrate the return of the Light on the Winter Solstice, December 21.

Thursday Jupiter and Pluto will be conjunct in the late degrees of Capricorn. This is the third and final  2020 conjunction of these two heavy weights. which are associated with events of a global nature. On a personal level it can strengthen ambition and the desire for success.

And the long -awaited end to the Mars retrograde will come Friday at 7:30 PM EST at 15 degrees of Aries.   Areas of life that have been stuck can  start to move forward and start to make progress. In general the retrograde period – since 9/9 – has been a good time to reconsider the Mars related areas of life – what we desire and feel passionate about and how we use and direct energy. It bodes well to consider now -as Mars is stationary in the sky in preparation for the station – how ideas have changed or evolved in these areas.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”Brightly clad nature spirits  dancing in the warm dying light.”

Mercury Retrograde Ends Tuesday

“It later became clear to me that no matter what we do in science or any other area , it will not help if we don’t find a way to be related to each other at a deep level.” David Bohm

“Only with winter-patience can we bring the deep-desired , long awaited spring.” Anne Morrow Lindeburgh

Mercury stations direct at 12:50 PM EST Tuesday November 3 – ending the retrograde period.  Mercury stationed retrograde in mid – October in the sign of Scorpio and moved back into the late degrees of Libra stationing at  25 degrees.

This retrograde period in these two signs was relationship oriented and presented an opportunity to revisit and rethink this area of life in our rapidly changing world.

It’s a good idea for a few days leading up to the station and for a few days following  to heighten awareness and be open to  new perceptions that surface. Mercury stations are associated with the culmination of information.

Mercury will station making a challenging alignment to Saturn indicating a good time for activities that engage the mind in a serious way – i.e. learning something new or studying. Saturn is associated with time and can slow things down. The possibility of inaccurate information emerging is always on the table around a Mercury station as are snafus with communications and technology. So it’s best to be patient and make an effort to be more clear in communications.

Halloween’s Blue Moon and This Week’s Astrology

“Must be
Must be
The season of the witch.” Donovan

“There are two ways to be rich: one is to have a lot of money; the other is to have few needs.”William Sloan Coffin

It’s a busy time in the starry heavens this week as both Mercury and Venus enter the sign of Libra on Tuesday. Mercury, still on his retrograde trek, is slowing down in the sky in anticipation of the end of the retrograde period on November 3. It bodes well at this time to tie up any loose ends and tend to things left undone as we prepare for the direct motion. It’s a good time for retrospection – to rethink and redo.

As retrograde Mercury enters Libra it will form a challenging alignment to the Saturn/Jupiter/Pluto configuration in Capricorn. We’re living in a time of rapid change here on planet earth and this transit provides a good time to look at any changes in relationship dynamics (all kinds of relationships) – changes that have gone on our changes you’d like to make.

Venus’s transit into the early degrees of Libra can help establish a more conciliatory atmosphere. Libras are the diplomats of the zodiac but sometimes can be overly accomodting to the wishes of others to the degree that they don’t advocate clearly enough for their own needs.

Halloween brings a  Blue Moon – the second full Moon of the month. The Moon will wax full at 8 Degrees of Taurus at 10:49 Am EDT. The Moon will be conjunct Uranus at this time making it an excellent time to shed outdated beliefs about the past as they relate to security, stability and pleasure in order to move forward in a freer, more innovative way.

It’s a good night to honor the ancestors.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,” A man alone in deep gloom. Unnoticed  angels are coming to his aid.”

It’s wise this week as we approach the end of the Mercury retrograde on Nov. 3 it’s wise to attend to any details left undone.

Mercury, Uranus and the Sun Enters Scorpio

“Synchronicity holds the promise that if we change within, the patterns in our outer life will change also.” Jean Shinola Bolen

“God is alive and magic is afoot.” Leonard Cohen

The Sun enters the mystical, magical sign of Scorpio tomorrow, October 22. This ushers in the time of year when in the northern hemisphere, the natural world turns inward as we prepare for the growing darkness on our way to the Winter Solstice.

As the Sun enters Scorpio it will  join Mercury and oppose Uranus, the planet of the unexpected.

Uranus is associated with synchronicity, which  is a way of seeing that can provide affirmation, direction and guidance. It’s  wise with Uranus and Mercury aligned this way to be open to it. This transit will last awhile -due to the retrograde transit of Mercury – mostly through late November.

One of the Sabian symbols for this time is,”A  youth holding a candle in a devotional ritual gains a sense of the great “Other World.”

Mercury, Uranus and This Week’s Astrology

“You can’t force simplicity, but you can invent it by finding as much richness as possible in a few things at hand.” Thomas Moore
Balance is key once again as this week gets off to a  bit of  awkward  start. Venus in Virgo forms a challenging aspect to retrograde Mars in Aries. Venus in the earthy sign of Virgo is looking for order and Mars in fiery Aries is looking for action and to stir it up. These two are forming a quincunx – and quincunxes can feel like a balancing act and indicate a  constant need for adjustment.
Juno, the asteroid of commitment and marriage is joined by retrograde Mercury  and both are opposed by the planet of the unexpected, Uranus. This can bring surprising news, revelations and breakthroughs about this area of life. Uranus is the planet of innovation and the future. If you are looking to improve relationships and commitments, do heed any info that surfaces at this time.
The electrical side of Uranus combined with its erratic  nature can be taxing on the nervous system. Best to make an extra effort to stay grounded,  create extra downtime and nurture the nervous system throughout the week.
Venus is moving up to a harmonious alignment with the Jupiter/ Pluto/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn boding well for expanding and transforming self esteem, financial management and matters of the heart.
The Sun enters the sign of Scorpio on Thursday.
