Chiron’s Influence this Month

“The quality of the imagination is to flow and not to freeze.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

This month much significant planetary activity involves Chiron – the asteroid of the Wounded Healer. Wherever Chiron falls in an individual’s chart there is a life long evolutionary journey of wounding and healing. There is usually fragmentation in the way we think about this area of life and a sense and track record that our dreams may easily elude us here. Manifesting goals in this area is more difficult partly because there are pieces missing from our imaginings of it. This month as various planets align with Chiron information about how to create a more complete picture of this area of life will be available. And the information will help to make the visions real. Heed dreams, musings and intuitions.

February 2013 Astrology

“The world is but canvas to our imagination.” Henry David Thoreau

February is a good month to keep your own counsel – to rely on your intuition and inner sense of knowing as it may be difficult to discern the meaning of events as they appear and are interpreted in the outer world. Neptune’s influence is strong all month – meaning illusion is about.

Deepening intuition, freeing the imagination to explore and create and growing in empathy are good directions to take all month long.It is bodes well to keep levels of inspiration high. Inspiration is about and can be more easily tapped into especially if a place is carved out for it in the midst of busy daily routines.

It is also a good idea to nurture and strengthen the immune system.

Notable Planetary Activity this month:

Early in the month:

Mars moves into Pisces forming a conjunction to Neptune and Chiron. This is a good time to consider the appropriate use of personal power and work on healing and repairing any related wounds of an emotional nature. Information about his process may come through dreams, intuitions and inspirations so do heed information that comes through these channels.

Venus moves into Aquarius trining Jupiter: This is a good time to consider our interrelationship with all of humanity and the natural world. It can bring joy, expansiveness and pleasure. Avoid excess.

Venus sextiles Uranus: This can bring love at first sight experiences as well as breakthroughs in areas of relationship, finances and happiness. Heed innovative solutions and pathways.

Mercury, Mars and Jupiter’s alignment indicates it bodes well to think before you speak or act as there is an indication that impulsive speech and action can lead to trouble. Conversation can take a more adversarial tone and more conflict can be about.

The New Moon is at 21 Aquarius on 2/10 EST. The wind is at our back with positive and clear intention setting as the Jupiter Mars square has excess energy to lend.

On the 11th Venus moves up to a square with Saturn. Squares indicate the need to overcome and at this time feelings of scarcity can easily arise. Moderation is key. Everything is in a state of evolution regardless of appearances.

Mid Month: Saturn stations retrograde in Scorpio on the 18th. This can be a frustrating time in terms of accomplishing things. It is best to avoid frustration and pushing too hard.

The Sun moves up to a conjunction with Neptune on the 21st – a good time for creative work and spiritual growth but can bring confusion to mundane matters.

Mercury stations retrograde on the 23 – get any necessary repairs done and contracts signed before that point if possible.

The Full Moon is at 7 degrees of Virgo on the 25.

Venus Conjuncts Pluto

“Your words and actions are magical – they create waves of energy that travel out into the world and nature.” David Spangler

Communications can become more testy this week as Venus moves up to a conjunction with Pluto – old wounds can be more easily triggered as well as concerns about scarcity (of love, resources etc) . It is a good time to practice diplomacy and to avoid engaging conflict. On a spiritual level this aspect has to do with deepening our understanding of love as a force in the world by transforming painful or longstanding wounds.

New Moon in Capricorn

“If you allow yourself to become overwhelmed by outer events it signifies that you are letting the outer world take control of your life instead of becoming the master of your own destiny.” Torgny Jansson*

The New Moon is Friday January 11 at 21 degrees of Capricorn. The New Moon is a time of beginnings and this Moon is particularly potent with its connection to the Lunar Nodes of destiny and fate. If you could start afresh and redesign the structure of your life so that the use of your time, energy, talents, money and love were determined by your highest priorities, what would that look like? Pay particular attention to areas of life that do not feel vibrant and energized- these are the ones in need of transformation. Now is the time to think about how to pragmatically move it in the direction of more mastery and personal authenticity.

Venus Enters Capricorn

“My soul and the world are but one.” Rudolph Steiner

Today Venus enters Capricorn, Saturn’s sign. Venus rules values and for the next couple of weeks as Venus transits the transformational Pluto/Uranus square, take some time to look at how you implement your personal values in areas of love, relationships and finances and whether a closer connection needs to be drawn. We live in a time of rapid evolution and higher personal aspirations and actions are directly correlated to a more positive outcome for the planet.

Mars Squares Saturn

One of the Sabian symbols associated with the Mars/Saturn square (in effect through 1/14) is, “Deep sea divers with special machinery.”
Insights and breakthroughs are possible now which shed light on how to improve the ways we customarily use power – envisioning our goals and then implementing them through the use of the will and physical energy.
Pay attention to messages of an intuitive nature that pertain to how to engage this process with more clarity and less confusion. Saturn in Scorpio encourages use to acknowledge outgrown dynamics related to how we use our energy in order to evolve in a more empowered direction.

Sabian Symbol quote from Lynda Hill’s, 360 Degrees of Wisdom

January 2013 Astrology

“May the New Year bring you closer and closer to the realization of your dreams. Never give them up, even in moments of tragedy. They are your pathway to the experience of Oneness with the Infinite. They – and they alone – will bring you the freedom that we all seek, when a moment can become the awareness of eternity, and the realization can bring forth an outpouring of compassion for all.”
Rob Merriman, Financial Astrologer

The aspects of January 2013 have a lot to teach about the challenges inherent in bringing dreams into manifestation. Mercury the planet of ideas and communication is a strong force in the sky throughout the month. It is a good month to practice patience, choose words carefully and exercise diplomacy.

As the month begins pay attention ideas that present innovative solutions to situations in need of resolution. It is a good time to be aware of information that enters your life through channels you may not normally pay attention to. Do not expect pragmatic applications to appear initially.

It is wise to be clear about intentions by the 11th the day of the New Moon at 21 Capricorn.

On the 6th Mercury moves up to a conjunction to Pluto. The ongoing Uranus/Pluto square – the sign of our times – is about the transformation of outdated forms and the coming to life of more innovative, enlightened ones. How we think about our lives and our world may have changed considerably over the past few years as this aspect functions now as it did in the 60s – as an awakener to higher consciousness.

The Mercury/Pluto aspect provides good timing to get under the radar in situations where perceptions can normally be blocked. It can be a time of powerful thinking and communication but it can contribute to irritability and harsh communications. It’s best to have strong boundaries all month long and not be surprised if communications become testy.

Venus moves up to a harmonious aspect to Neptune exact on the 10th. This is a good time for getting in touch with our higher aspirations in order to move more closely in that direction. Do not demand pragmatic applications initially.

Through the 16th pay attention to information which comes about making any romantic, creative or financial goals real. It may be a bumpy time and it is best to maintain equilibrium through the transition rather than assuming all the information is in at any one point. We are living in a time when the old models no longer work and it can feel like a bit of a balancing act forging the path to a more innovative future.

From the 13th to the 21st Venus in Capricorn will aspect Saturn. This influence can bring a stabilizing force and help ground ideas and dreams pragmatically.

The Sun moves into Aquarius on the 19th.

Towards the end of the month Mercury engages the influence of Jupiter and Uranus- bringing a sense of expansion and optimism. Saturn’s influence at the end of the month can help with pragmatics and planning.

The Full Moon is on 1/26 at 7 degrees of Leo.

Full Moon in Cancer

“Last night as I lay sleeping,
I dreamt -marvellous error!-
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from all my old failures.” Antonio Machado

The Moon waxes full Friday December 28 at 7 degrees of Cancer. It is a good time to review commitments (of all kinds) in order to move in a direction of increased personal authenticity. It also bodes well under this influence to rewrite or reinterpret the story of your life from a more empowered perspective. It is as if we are at an important crossroad where the past must be left behind in order to perceive the clear horizons ahead.

Winter Solstice 2012

“You are not the oil, you are not the air – merely the point of combustion, the flash point where the light is born.” Dag Hammarskjold

The Sun enters Capricorn Friday December 21 marking the time of the Winter Solstice. For centuries people have gathered around the fire at this time to call back the light.

Calling back the light is a good symbol for our times.

Many astrologers believe the Winter Solstice this year marks the beginning of a new age – the Age of Aquarius- in which the m.o. on the earth plane will start to evolve away from from fear and greed into love. Energetically we are all part of this change or the resistance to it.

In the chart for the Solstice the Sun is conjunct Juno the asteroid of commitment and Pluto the asteroid of transformation and change. It bodes well as intentions and commitments are set for the upcoming year to keep our aspirations high for the evolution of the earth in a more holistic, healthy direction.
