June 2013 Astrology

“The king could look into the water of the magic cauldron and see whatever was happening wherever he chose. The water of the cauldron has a reflective quality, as well as a quality of depth.Gazing into the water frees you from the immediate stimuli of the senses and permits you to think about something that is not in front of you, that is, to reflect on something you saw at another time and place, or to imagine something you haven’t experienced before, or become a philosopher, thinking about abstract concepts and what lies beyond concepts.” David Tresemer

There are powerful planets in water signs now – Saturn in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter and the inner planets will follow along this month. This represents a shift away from the busy Gemini energy to the more intuitive and emotional realm of the water element.
April and May have been an interesting time frame – with the series of three eclipses followed by the procession of inner planets transiting through the mercurial sign of Gemini. Eclipses are evolutionary in nature. They offer opportunities to leave the past behind and usher in the start of a new cycle. Gemini gives us new frameworks through which to view our lives and offers options for new directions.
In June with many planets in water signs it signals a time to integrate the recent eclipse lessons on an intuitive or inner level and to make small, pragmatic steps to forge new paths. It is best to let the dreams or aspirations be the North Star and chart your course with pragmatism. There is guidance and support all month long for manifesting dreams and higher aspirations that have solid footing and are implemented with care.
It is a good month to spend by the water – to experience its healing and restorative powers and to gaze into its mysterious depths.
Throughout time the cauldron or chalice or Grail Cup has represented a vessel containing spiritual energy which awakens our connection to spiritual worlds. Historically when Neptune has been in Pisces as it is now, there has been an increased interest in spirituality on the planet which has resulted in a time of heightened spiritual awareness and growth. Chiron’s close connection to Neptune now indicates it is a time to move from a fragmented perception of the world to one that is more interconnected and whole.

“And therefore I look upon everything
as a brotherhood and a sisterhood,
and I look upon time as no more than an idea,
and I consider eternity as another possibility,

and I think of each life as a flower, as common
as a field daisy, and as singular,

and each name a comfortable music in the mouth,
tending, as all music does, toward silence,

and each body a lion of courage, and something
precious to the earth.” Mary Oliver

Weekend Astrology

“A wise old owl sat on an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard;
Why aren’t we all like that wise old bird?” Edward Hersey Richards

One of the Sabian symbols associated with Saturday’s Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse is,” An old owl perched high up in a tree.” This symbol speaks of the value of wisdom and perspective and it is a good time to make an effort to be in touch with both. This is the final eclipse in a series of three since late April. Events have conspired to show us we are living in times of great change. This weekend provides a good time to take some time to reflect on what brings meaning and value into your life and and to be in touch with higher wisdom.

Quote from Lynda Hill’s 360 Degrees of Wisdom

Lunar Eclipse Saturday

“We are as the Aborigines say, just learning to survive in infinity.” Michael Talbot

Saturday’s Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse is at 4 degrees Sagittarius and this time is very much about integrating more inspiration and creativity into the way we customarily think. The Sun and Moon square Neptune at the time of the eclipse and Mercury, Venus and Jupiter are conjunct in Gemini – encouraging us to seek the harmony that underlies everything when body and soul are in the right ratio. It is a good time to dream, to seek and heed messages from dreams and to be in touch with higher aspirations for ourselves and the healthy evolution of the planet.
Quote from Michael Talbot’s book The Holographic Universe

Venus Squares Neptune

“We are taking slow and steady steps toward making some deep changes in ourselves – lasting changes, rather than quick fixes. The energy is pushing us to create new, lasting patterns and approaches.”
Genevieve Hathaway
Venus moves up to a square to Neptune today as the Moon enters Cancer and the Uranus/Pluto square. The speed and intensity of information coming at us can be challenging to integrate. As we are in the midst of an eclipse cycle it is best to assume that not all the information is in. It is wise to provide extra down time and keep your thoughts on what you are aspiring to.

Solar Eclipse in Taurus

“Eclipses affect cellular memory, facilitating our awakening and remembrance of our soul’s blueprint.” Stephanie Austin

The second in a series of three eclipses is Thursday May 9 at 19 degrees of Taurus. The sign of Taurus governs what we value. It is an excellent time to set intentions related to bringing more pleasure and meaning into our lives. It is also a good time to recapture the essence of what has brought happiness in the past and to be open to new forms for it in the present.
This eclipse is about the future. It is a good idea to be open to new experiences and ideas. One of the Chandra Symbols for this eclipse is, “A fork in the road with a blank sign post.”

Stephanie Austin is a writer and astrologer in Port Townsend, Washington. The Chandra symbol quote is from Ellias Lonsdale’s book, Inside Degrees.

May 2013 Astrology

“Intent is infinite.”…Carlos Castaneda

There are some beautiful Chandra symbols for May’s significant astrological activity. One of them is, “An old woman hears the stars talking to her at night. There is wonder, there is awe, discovery and an odd echo of fate.”

Much of the evolution which is occurring now has to do with integrating higher levels of consciousness into our lives and into the life of the world. It bodes well throughout May to allow more time for inspiration, appreciation, wonder and gratitude.

May starts off under some powerful aspects for getting work done. For the first week, organize your thoughts and projects and move forward in a calm, steady and determined way.

There are two eclipses this month the first of which falls on May 9. This is a Solar Eclipse at 19 Taurus. Mars and Mercury are close to the South Node at this time indicating it bodes well to enter the month with clear, committed intentions. Reaffirm commitments when challenges present themselves. Anticipate a month where there will be a waxing and waning of energy. Neptune’s influence is strong and illusion can be about. Avoid impulsive action.

The Uranus/Pluto square is exact again on May 20. This is the revolutionary sign of our times and an opportunity for awakening on a personal and global scale. We can see its influence politically, economically and socially as a new world struggles to be born. The old order which has been shown to have weak and unsustainable underpinnings is in the process of falling and new growth is sprouting. New forms for our personal and collective lives based on healthy models are the keys to the way forward. Look to your chart to see where the houses governed by Capricorn and Aries are – these are the areas of life being directly impacted by this ongoing influence.

The Lunar eclipse is May 25 at 4 degrees of Sagittarius. One of the Chandra symbols associated with this placement is.”An old owl sits alone on a branch of an old tree: a poised and wise approach to existence based on a clear perception of unconscious factors and their operation.” This month presents a good opportunity to grow in wisdom and awareness.

Lunar Eclipse Thursday

Our beliefs can have a lot of power to shape how we experience existence.” Genevieve Hathaway
The first of three eclipses in the next month is Thursday April 25 at 5 degrees of Scorpio. The Scorpio/Taurus axis represents what we value in our lives and what we need to let go of in order to have it. It is a good time to release or reframe longstanding emotional burdens we carry – particularly those that we do not customarily consider. This eclipse period presents the opportunity of rapid personal evolution. Keep the focus on what you are creating.

Mercury in Aries

“Intention is shown by the specificity of your attention.” David Tresemer

With last year’s Venus transit across the Sun things are manifesting more quickley and it bodes well to heed the Dalai Lama’s advice to “always be thinking about what we are thinking.” Thought can be used for good or ill – to create the energy for positive events to occur or to put obstacles in the way. As Mercury now in Aries enters the Pluto/Uranus square it bodes well to assess how we use the power of thought and speech in our lives, to identity unproductive, disempowering and habitual patterns and to make an intention to move in a more innovative and proactive direction.

Pluto Stations Retrograde

“The sun, with all the planets revolving around it and depending on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as though it had nothing else in the universe to do.” Gallileo Galilei

The Sabian symbol for Pluto’s retrograde station on Friday April 12 is, “A student of nature lecturing, revealing little known aspects of life.” This retrograde period will last through late September. Wherever Pluto is transiting in your chart is an area where significant transformation is occurring in your life. There are levels of awareness about this process which can be revealed over time. From now through September provides an excellent time frame to heighten awareness about “little known” aspects of your life involved in the transformational process and where this may be leading you.
There is a quickening of the evolutionary trajectory of the planet now and it has both a personal and collective nature to it.

Friends – If you are curious about where Pluto is transiting in your chart and what this means in your life I am offering brief (15 minutes for $40, 30 minutes for $75.00) readings on individual charts. Get in touch if you would like to book some time.

New Moon in Aries

“Power consists to a large extent in deciding what stories will be told.” Carolyn G. Heilbrun

The New Moon is at 20 degrees of Aries on Wednesday April 10. With many planets in Aries now it is a highly energized time. To best harness the energy proceed with initiatives in a balanced, well thought out way.
It is a good time to explore how you express your individuality in the context of relationship and set new intentions for growth if necessary.
